Winter Break is Fun

I love this month-long college break thingy. I can kick back and do whatever I want without feeling guilty about not doing schoolwork (because there is none).

And so many great movies are out right now. And I got a PS2, so "God of War" has been taking up some time.

My Top 10 Albums list should be coming any day now. The Films list won't be until Jan 9, for sure... gotta check out "The New World" and "Match Point" when I go back up to LA.

And this is sounding like a journal, so sue me.

Sleepless on a Christmas Eve

It's technically already Christmas, but I never sleep well on Christmas Eve. There's still a part of that little boy in me that looks forward to waking up, opening presents, and having Christmas breakfast, although I now wake up at 9AM instead of 6AM. It's also interesting to notice how, as you get older, you appreciate giving gifts more than receiving them.

Both the brothers (and the wives) are home, bringing our family total to a new high - 8 (including Molly the Cat). It's fun to see everyone under one roof.

Oh, and my 21st Birthday Party was a success - at least I haven't heard otherwise. Yet, I still haven't been carded for alcohol, and I've tried three times already. Do I really look that old? I don't think so.

And now I will try to get some sleep, though that probably won't happen. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas, especially in Sunny California (it was 78 today without a cloud in sight).

Twenty-One

I had just gotten use to the idea of being 20, and now I'm 21. Strange. It's really no different than 20, save for the alcohol, which isn't that important to me anyways... at least not yet in my life.

It's bizarre to think I've been here for 183,960 hours. Of course, about 61,320 of those hours were spent sleeping. And 15,330 hours eating. But still, that's a lot of time on this Earth... and I don't know where I was going with that, but yeah.

Best of 2005 CD

Lark and Hannah asked me to make them a CD. So, I thought, what the hell could I do? How about a CD with the best songs of the year?

So I embarked on that project, and here was the result.
I hope they enjoy it.

1. Jens Lekman - "Maple Leaves"
2. Stars - "What I'm Trying to Say"
3. The New Pornographers - "The Bleeding Heart Show"
4. The Go-Betweens - "Here Comes a City"
5. Gorillaz - "Last Living Souls"
6. Of Montreal - "So Begins Our Alabee"
7. The Boy Least Likely To - "Be Gentle with Me"
8. Archer Prewitt - "Way of the Sun"
9. Sigur Ros - "Giosoli"
10. Sufjan Stevens - "Come On! Feel the Illinoise!"
11. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - "Details of the War"
12. Animal Collective - "Banshee Beat"
13. Andrew Bird - "Tables and Chairs"
14. The Decemberists - "The Sporting Life"
15. Eels - "Going Fetal"
16. Bloc Party - "So Here We Are"
17. Elbow - "Mexican Standoff"

Note: I limited myself to one song per artist, and this is not in order of preference. Now I'm going to let my ego take a rest.

Done!!!

Finals are over. Christmas Break has begun. It's time to sleep in, see family & friends, watch movies, play video games, and not have to worry about school at all. And oh yeah, it's time to turn 21.

God, I love December.

The shower ceiling is slowly starting to regain its former shape.

Go Jens Go!

I'm five songs into Jens Lekman's Oh You're So Silent Jens, and so far it's shaping up to be one of the year's best albums. Keep it up Jens, only 12 tracks to go!

Oh, and here are tentative "Top 10 of 2005" list dates...

Top 10 Albums - January 6th
Top 10 Films - January 9th
Top 10 Moms - oooooooh..... snap

290 is done!

I showed my 5th and final film on Thurs, and I was happy with the results (especially considering that I was still shooting footage an hour before it was due).

As for the shower, who knows when it'll be repaired. We're using it, but each morning there are new interesting bugs and creatures in it (apparently the shower ceiling was a bug haven).

And oh yeah, Beat the Bruins!

Um...

So, our shower ceiling decided to collapse.
