She's the protagonist of Mike Leigh's "Happy-Go-Lucky" and probably the most annoying person you could ever meet. I'm terrified just looking at this photo of her.
I caught this when it opened in England earlier this year and while I concede that the image you posted is rather unsettling, I disagree about the overall character assessment. The opening scene at the bookstore was a bit grating and the scene with all the girl chat after the night at the club must have lasted 25 minutes but despite the rocky introduction I must admit I became utterly infatuated with Poppy and perhaps Sally Hawkins. I think seeing her interaction in the classroom was the turning point for me.
I thought it was a really sweet movie overall and was heartened to see a British film interested in social realism that wasn't grim and gritty.
It will probably make my year's top 10 list so prepare yourself accordingly.

that is definitly a photo of sally hawkins i have not seen yet.
